Char-Broiled Oysters on the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill - Ninja Woodfire Grill Recipes
We loaded up the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill and took it to the beach….which means FRESH OYSTERS!
RECIPE:
Fresh Oysters on the half shell
Butter
Garlic
Lemon
Parlsey
Parmesean
(If you don’t have all of these ingredients, or wanted something else on them…read my rants below the recipe and directions. I saved most people the trouble of scrolling, but It will help YOU decide what else you can do.)
DIRECTIONS:
Shuck the oyster and separate it from the membrane on the shell. Leave the oyster on the flattest half shell, and shuck the other side out!
Melt butter, and add lemon juice and garlic. Taste it and see if it needs more of something.
Preheat the Ninja Woodfire Grill to the grill setting on High for 8 minutes.
I decided to add smoke to my cook, so I added in some pellets and pressed the woodfire button.
Once the grill has ignited its pellets and preheated to high, place the oysters directly on the grill.
Spoon the butter mixture into each shell, and top each oyster with Parmesan cheese and parsley.
Close the lid and let the oysters cook for 8 minutes. You may want to check around 5, and remove them earlier if you like them less done. Remember, you are cooking for you!
8 minutes was the perfect time for everyone here at the beach to enjoy them. I personally would have liked them around 5 minutes, because I enjoy raw oysters, and don’t mind a little jiggle :)
Once 8 minutes are up, scoop the oyster out and enjoy!
Such a yummy treat at the beach or anytime you happen to have access to some fresh oysters!!
Okay, now that i’ve got the important stuff out of the way, let me tell you about these oysters. I got them at Shrimp City in Panama City Beach in a month that ends in an R, so you know they’re good. Picked up 2 dozen oysters, and Eric was kind enough show me exactly how to shuck an oyster so I didn’t hurt myself later. I wasn’t worried, but I had never done it before, or even seen it done so I figured it couldn’t hurt.
We got back to the condo, and I set up the Ninja on the balcony and got to shuckin’.
Im not saying im a pro at shuckin oysters, but I think I was pretty damn good for a first timer. And it was really fun! Travis got in on the shuckin’ but gave up and started bashing it with the oyster knife so I took back the reigns, lol.
We got all 2 dozen shucked and preheated the grill to high and added in some signature blend pellets from Traeger. If you’re paying 16.99 for the Ninja 2lb Pellets, I applaud you….but you’re paying too much. You can get the 20 lb bag of Traeger Signature Pellets for the same price!
Now is when you can choose your own adventure with the oyster flavors. I mentioned above what I used for these oysters. The group I was with like them with cheese and butter and garlic and herbs, so that what we did. You can do literally whatever you want though, they pretty much take in any flavor.
If you want it plain but cooked, then leave them untouched. If you want some crunch add some breadcrumbs on top before closing the grill. Maybe you just want some lemon garlic butter? Then have it your way! Maybe you’re real hungry…..go full meal with butter, garlic, arugula, gouda and bacon bits! You really can make these as crazy as your heart desires.
But today, were taking it semi-easy. Just melt some butter, and then add fresh chopped garlic and lemon and maybe some salt and pepper if you wish. Spoon that mixture into the shell, add the cheese and parsley and close the grill.
Check it after 5 minutes, and pull them off whenever they’re done to your liking. I cooked mine for 8 minutes, and that was great for most of my party, however I would have liked mine less done. Don’t worry, I snuck one off early;)
Once they are done, scoop em out and slurp em down! They were SOO GOOD. That’s really all there is to it. I hope you guys enjoyed and happy grilling foodie’s :)
This little ninja grill is awesome and has made some great food on this trip. Im sure this is the first of many travel experiences ill have with this! We shot an episode on these oysters, you can check it out on our YouTube if you’re interested.
